The Proprietor of Hassan Gwarzo College in Kano, Professor Ibrahim Ayagi has been arraigned by the Kano State Police Command over alleged homosexuality activities that were reported among the students of the college.
Prof Ayagi and three other persons were charged with sodomy. The report of an inquiry committee had led to the closure of the school indefinitely.
Those also arraigned are the Principal of the College, Muhd Bashir Jimo, Kabiru Said, Ado Umar. They were all charged with criminal conspiracy, joint act, and six other charges.
This is the first time the Police are coming out clear in the case that saw Kano State government closing the college after finding it culpable in the homosexual case.
Professor Ibrahim Ayagi also has another one count charge on him of gross indecency to face.
The presiding judge, Aminu Kabara adjourned the case till February 29, 2016.
However, Kano State executive council has approved the immediate re-opening of Hassan Ibrahim Gwarzo Boys Secondary School despite instituting a legal suit against the management of the college.
While reviewing the issue, the council has considered the persistent call by the stakeholders for the re-opening of the school.
The state government took into cognisance the provision of security and that nothing will affect the matter before the court.
