The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has said that the posting of its popular “Open Heavens” devotional on social media platforms is illegal.
In a statement issued by the Assistant General Overseer, Admin/Personnel, Pastor J.F Odesola, the management of the church warned that copying and pasting of the devotional on social media platforms such as whatsApp and Facebook “without written permission from the author is strictly prohibited”.
Stating that the devotional is meant to be used for workers meeting on Sundays, the church advised its workers, ministers and pastors, to buy get their copies from authorized sales officers.
The statement read in parts:
“We write to remind all that the Open Heavens Devotional is meant to be used for our workers meeting on Sundays and such that all Workers, Ministers and Pastors are to have a copy to themselves. Kindly contact the Open Heavens Office for copies for your members or their authorized Sales Officers for the same.
“We write to inform you that the posting and/ or publishing of the Open Heavens Devotional via WhatsApp, Facebook or any social media platform without permission from the author is illegal.
“The content for the devotional can be reviewed and discussed but copying and pasting it without written permission is strictly prohibited.
“Kindly use your good office to inform your members, ministers and workers to desist from such act”
