Wednesday night downpour in Ibadan has left many residents homeless in Omi Adio/Apata/Gbekuba area of the city.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the flood submerged the access bridges along Odo Ona, NIHORT linking Gbekuba and neighbouring communities became unpassable after the rain flooded areas along the passage drain between Omi Adio to Odo Ona.
Motorists and people on their way home had no alternative but to remain where the water level was manageable so as not to be washed away.
Some residents were trapped in their houses. While volunteers worked tirelessly to rescue them, som hoodlums reportedly used the opportunity to loot the victims’ homes.
The rain which started at about 7pm lasted till about midnight.
