Oba Samuel Akinola Adeyemo, the Obalemo of Odo Ora in Ido/Osi Local Government Area, Ekiti State was locked out of his palace by angry residents of the community.
The residents and kingmakers said the procedure that produced the monarch was wrong as he did not observe traditional rites required to ascend the throne.
Oba Adeyemi in a petition to the State Government, reportdly told the deputy governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, that he had been locked out of the palace by suspected hoodlums allegedly mobilized by some interest groups in the community.
According to statement by Odunayo Ogunmola, Special Assistant (Media) to the Deputy Governor, Egbeyemi on Wedesday condemend the incident and warned that the full weight of the law would be visited on individuals fomenting trouble in the community.
Egbeyemi said that government had to summon the peace meeting following intelligence report from security agencies on possible outbreak of violence over the kingship crisis. He advised Odo Ora indigenes who are aggrieved with the king’s emergence to seek redress in court instead of taking laws into their hands.
He said anyone found causing trouble in the community would be arrested and prosecuted.
Another peace meeting has been fixed for Febraury 21, 2019.
