Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of Portugal’s national team as he battles to clear his name in allegations that he raped a model in Las Vegas, USA and paid her £287,000 to keep quiet.
The 33-year-old Juventus forward will not be part of his country’s second game of the UEFA Nations League in Poland on October 11. He will also miss a friendly match against Scotland in Glasgow on October 14.
No reason was given for his absence from the squad but it may not be unconnected to the rape allegations brought against him by Kathryn Mayorga.
Mayorga is currently claiming that the former Real Madrid star man raped her in June 2009 in a Las Vegas hotel room.
