The plans were slightly disrupted following an announcement by Meghan’s father, that he would not attend the wedding, and by implication, would not be walking his daighter down the aisle according to wedding customs.
The groom’s father, Prince Charles will now do the duties or the bride’s father following a request by Meghan who said her father needed to “focus on his health.”
He had suffered a heart attack and oulled out early this week angry ocer the intrusion of his privacy by paparazzi stalking him as a result of her daughter’s high profile wedding.
Kensington Palace, in a statement said: “Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day.
“The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”
