The All Progresives Congress (APC), Oyo State Chapter, has urged Muslim faithful to use the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir to pray for Nigeria, especially over the ongoing battle to rid the country of Insecurity such as banditry, Kidnapping among others.
In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the APC Caretaker Committee in the state, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olatunde, on Monday, the party also asked Nigerians to co-operate with “our leaders in the ongoing batlle against insurgents.”
“Sallah festivities is all about the spirit of sacrifices and obedience, exhibited by Prophet Ibrahim (a.s) and Prophet Ismail (a.s).
“We are thus urging the adherence of Islam to allow the lessons this Sallah brought to us to guide us now and our daily lives after the Sallah festivities,” the statement said.
The party also used the occasion to remind the general public of the lingering COVID-19 pandemic, especially with the “latest record of two deaths in Oyo State.”
“Also, University of Lagos has to shut down its hostel facilities and regular interactive classes in place of online lectures because of the increase in the number of infections
“The fact that for the second year running, international hajj pilgrims were not allowed to perform the obligatory fifth pillar of Islam says a lot about the need for everyone to celebrate Sallah with caution.
“Remember, it is those who are alive that celebrates.
“Furthermore, the presidential steering committee on COVID-19 just two days ago places Oyo, Lagos, Kano,Rivers States and FCT on red alert, and thus advised on safety protocol compliance during Sallah,” it said.
The party enjoined everyone to celebrate in a moderate manner and wish residents of the state a wonderful and enjoyable Sallah festivities.
