A former President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, has said that the ‘O to ge’ campaign adopted by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State to oust the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from government was full of lies and deceit.
Saraki spoke in Ilorin, the state capital, over the weekend, while receiving members of the APC who defected to PDP.
The APC won the 2019 general elections by 100 per cent in the state, winning the governorship seat, three Senate seats, six House of Representatives seats and 24 House of Assembly seats.
Receiving the defectors, Saraki described the 2019 ‘O to ge’ movement adopted by the APC to win the elections “as tissues of lies.”
“But Kwarans have learnt their lessons in a bitter way now. I am confident that the PDP will send the APC away from the Government House in 2023 by the grace of God,” he said.
The former governor said he based his optimism on what he described as the awful performance of the current administration in the state led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq
Speaking, state chairman of the PDP, Babatunde Mohammed, assured the defectors of a level playing field in all the party’s activities.
“Residents of the state, both indigenes and non-indigenes are now regretting that they mistakenly voted for the current government in 2019,” he added
The defectors, who were led by Kayode Ogunlowo, hinged their action on alleged victimisation and intimidation by the present administration in the state.
