Senate president Bukola Saraki said on Tuesday that arrangements have been concluded for the setting up of an ad- hoc Committee that would reappraise the structure of the National Assembly budget.
This comes in the wake of public outcry over the alleged N9billion naira budgeted for the legislators’ Wardrobe, Car, Furniture, Accommodation and other allowances.
In his address of welcome at the resumed plenary by the senators from the two week break, Saraki urged all senators to run a more transparent National Assembly to avoid what he termed, attendant misinformation the stories could bring.
He stressed that the adhoc Committee to look at the structure of the National Assembly would ensure that the Senate becomes more open as well as put in place measures that the budget was in line with economic realities.
Saraki however described reports on the Wardrobe allowance as false, malicious and reckless.
