The event, which held at the ancient city of Ile-Ife on Friday, was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life.
Akitunde had earlier felicitated Oba Ogunwusi in a statement made available to newmen by his Special Assistant, Kunle Olatunji.
He prayed that Almighty God will grant the monarch many more years of peaceful reign in good health and splendour.
“Since the period of your Imperial Majesty’s enthronement as the Ooni of Ife, it is quite glaring that the ancient city of Ile-Ife and the entire kingdom has witnessed tremendous peace, development and growth
“This is evident in the quite noticeable ambience and rapid economic expansion of the city in recent times among other virtues of your unique, very urbane and kind personality as a monarch holding fast the valued historical heritage and traditions of the Yoruba race of which Ile-Ife has ever been quite significant.
“I sincerely rejoice and join several family members, friends, associates, the unique people of Ile-Ife, government and people of Osun State, the entire Yoruba race with our proud heritage of Ife Kingdom, Nigerians and by extension Africa to celebrate and wish our highly revered monarch, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, a happy 50th birthday,” the lawmaker said.
Highlight of the occasion was the commissioning of a 7km road constructed within the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, which was a special birthday gift donated by the monarch.
The occasion also witnessed the unveiling of a golden statue of the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, as encomiums and good will messages poured in for the monarch.
