Senator Abdulfata Buhari, Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator Abdulfata Buhari, on Tuesday commissioned four unit motorized solar borehole at Elekokan community in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He also commissioned boreholes in Isalu Iseyin, Okaka and Ilua in Oke Ogun area of Oyo state
The boreholes are part of the 13 boreholes he facilitated for 13 communities in Oyo North Senatorial District to relief the people of acute water shortage.
Hundreds of resident of Elekokan community trooped out to welcome and appreciate the Senator for what they termed a donation that will alleviate their age long sufferings.
Some of the residents who spoke to reporters said the two major problems facing the communities are water and electricity and with this development one is partly solved
They said that they paid as much as N80 for 25 litres of water from the neighbouring community which is about 4 kilometres away.
A community leader Alhaji Abdulrasaq Salawudeen said the only river that passes through the town has been the community’s only source of water.
Speaking at the commissioning, Senator Buhari said the borehole was part of his campaign promises to the people of the community when he visited them in 2015 during the electionaring campaign
He also assured them that he is working with various stakeholders to ensure that the community is connected to the national grid for electricity.
While urging them to vote for All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming elections, the lawmaker who is the chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, said supporting continuity of APC’s government will afford them the opportunity of having basic amenities and other benefits that will enhance their socio-economic life.
