Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, representing Oyo North Senatorial District, on Friday commissioned an ICT centre and a block of classrooms in Iseyin, Oyo state.
The projects were part of the constituency projects facilitated by him for the district.
Speaking at the event, Senator Buhari, said the ICT centre is one of the centres facilitated for the 13 Local Government Areas in the Senatorial district
“The essence is to create a platform where younger people especially students can learn and acquire ICT knowlegde and develop skills that will enhance their education pursuit,” he explained.
According to the senator, who is Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, “the world is going digital and everybody irrespective of status, needs to be computer literate. And one of the ways we can help our people to be literate is to bring the facilities closer to them.”
“Before now people from this part of the state go to Ibadan to learn about ICT, those writing computer based exams also have to move to nearby cities to learn but with this now people can learn and practice CBT in preparation for exams”.
Party chieftains and community leaders including Chief Oladimeji Wasiu, state Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Kewusola, APC Senatorial chairman in Oyo North and others lauded the lawmaker for his genuine contribution to the senatorial district
Earlier in the day, the lawmaker had joined Hon Niyi Adeagbo, the Chairman of Itesiwaju LGA to distribute empowerment materials to the people of the local government.
