Senators on Thursday called on the Federal Government to immortalise the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1.
In a motion by Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi ( Oyo South senatorial district) and 16 others, the lawmakers expressed sadness over the death of the monarch.
They urged the federal government to immortalize the late monarch by naming a national or state monument after him.
They noted his exemplary character and patriotism exhibited in his service and his active role as a soldier in the second World War.
The lawmakers observed one minute silence in his honour and resolved to send a delegation to condone with the family, people and government of Oyo State.
The late Oba passed away Tuesday, January 19 at the age of 101
