A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Akogun Sharafadeen Alli, has described the late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi as a true federalist with heart of integrity.
The monarch, who joined his ancestors after reigning for 48 years, ascended the throne on October 24, 1973.
Reacting to the demise of the first class monarch in a condolence message on Sunday, Alli condoled with the entire sons and daughters of Ogbomoso land, saying Oba Oyewumi on many occasions displayed uncommon integrity and love for mankind.
The former Secretary to the State Government recalled that the monarch rejected a whooping sum of N100 million given to him by the state government after his palace was destroyed following the #EndSARS protest in Ogbomoso.
According to the Ekefa Balogun of Ibadan land, the monarch grew up in the North and has businesses across the country, thereby contributing to the economy of the nation.
He said: “I am using this medium to condole with sons and daughters of Ogbomoso land over the death of our royal father, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi. He was a true federalist, he was a man of integrity. All these traits reflected in the ways he handled issues. Soun could have collected the whooping NI00 million dashed out to him by the state government but he rejected it. He told the government to invest it on the youths which was the genesis of the protest.
“The monarch was a nationalist who never discriminate among the people, regardless of their social status.”
