The House of Representatives on Tuesday mandated its relevant committees to investigate the action of Department of State Services(DSS) operatives in the rearrest the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, at the premises of a Federal High Court in Abuja last Friday.
The resolution followed the unanimous adoption of a motion moved by the Minority Leader, Mr Ndudi Elumelu at plenary.
The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, who prevented lawmakers from debating the matter, referred it to the relevant committees for investigation.
Elumelu described the incident as an abuse on the sanctity of the court.
He said the reported invasion of the courtroom by DSS operatives can be seen as one arm of government attempting to overpower another, which will spell doom for the country’s democracy.
