Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam has charged supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to be detered by the February polls shift but sustain the momentum the party had already gathered ahead of the new dates March 28 and April 11 for presidential and governorship/state legislative elections.
Salaam, who addressed party supporters during the zonal campaign of Ede Federal constituency in Ofatedo, Ido-Osun and Ede, on Saturday, said if the election was postponed, the date for the handing over remained sacrosanct.
He was in company of the Senatorial candidate for the Osun West Senatorial District, Sen. Isiaka Adeleke, the candidate for the Federal House of Representatives, Ede, Egbedore and Ejigbo, Prof. Mojeed Alabi and the candidates for the Ede North and Ede South State House of Assembly respectively.
He stressed further that the beauty of democracy was to use the ballot papers to punish wicked and uncaring leaders, noting that now that the electorate were conscious of their power, it was incumbent on them to extend their sovereignty to active participation in government.
The top lawmaker noted that Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s victory at the election tribunal had revealed to the people of the state that the opposition PDP had lost its deposit and goodwill in the state.
Speaker Salaam then tasked those who have not collected their permanent voter’s card to take the advantage of the election postponement to get their cards. He also urged the party faithful to win more friends with door to door campaign.
