Sokoto State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will take over the South West in the 2023 elections.
Tambuwal spoke during a meeting between the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, and South West stakeholders in Ibadan, on Wednesday.
He said the victory of the party in the July 16 governorship election in Osun State was a prelude to PDP’s bid to take over the entire South West region.
“What happened in Osun State recently is a sign of what to come. The South West is going to be delivered to the PDP come 2023,” the governor said.
The national chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, who was represented by the party’s deputy national chairman (North), Ambassador Umar Damagun, said PDP had nothing to fear in the coming polls, urging members to vote for the party’s candidates.
In his own submission, Osun State Governor-elect, Sen Ademola Adeleke, said Atiku was an integral part of the South West region, adding that he would win the 2023 presidential election.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; Adeleke; former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, among others were present are the meeting.
