The ancient city of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, was agog on Friday when the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was honoured with the title of African Man of the Century.
The event, held at the APC state secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan, was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life.
Tinubu, represented by a former APC chairman in Ondo State, Ambassador Sola Iji, was presented with the beautifully carved Ori Olokun award by the organisers of the event, Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba (Grand Council of Yoruba Youths), to celebrate this year’s Yoruba National Day.
Speaking, the President General (Aare Apapo) of Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba (Grand Council of Yoruba Youths), Comrade Awa Bamiji, eulogised Tinubu for his contributions to the development of the country and investing in people, adding that 2023 edition will be bigger and better.
According to Awa, the 2023 edition will hold at the newly-built Ileri Oluwa Campaign Office, Osogbo, Osun State.
“It is going to be a three-day interactive session of prominent Nigerian youths and students with leading political, religious and traditional rulers in Nigeria,” he added.
Dignitaries at the 2022 event include Otunba Jumoke Ogunkeyede (JMK); Hon Emmanuel Adelowo, who represented Chief Iyiola Oladokun; Prof Soji Adejumo (former Oyo State SUBEB Chairman/Oyo State Coordinator, Tinubu/Shettima Coalition for Good Governance); Hon Bayo Adesanya (son of late Senator Abraham Adesanya/Representative of Mr Sunny Ajose); Prince Felix Shokan Oni; Alhaji Gbadagesin Azeez (Representative of Prof Sabitu Olagoke, Spiritual Head of Shafaudeen Islamic Center); Hon Joshua Oyebamiji (Representative of Hon Isaac Omodewu, Oyo State APC Chairman); Mrs Alli, Wife of former Secretary to Oyo State Government, who represented the former first lady of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi among others.
