A 35-year-old man has pleaded guilty to assaulting Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, after their North London derby against Tottenham in January.
Joseph Watts of Hackney was charged by police after Ramsdale was kicked following Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on January 15.
On Friday, Watts appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to assault by beating.
He was banned from football matches for four years and was also given a community order and asked to pay Ramsdale £100 compensation.
After last month’s game, Tottenham said they were appalled by the attack and would work ‘to take the strongest possible action, including an immediate ban from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Premier League club subsequently worked with Metropolitan Police football investigation team to help identify Watts, who clambered towards the pitch to kick Ramsdale at full-time.
