US President, Donald Trump has authorised the General Services Administration (GSA), the agency responsible for signing off on the presidential transition process, to begin “initial protocols” that will recognise Democratic candidate, Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election.
Trump said via a post on his Twitter handle on Monday that his administration would begin co-operating with Joe Biden’s transition team, bowing to Republican pressure to start the transfer of power even as he vowed to continue contesting his election loss.
The tweet, which stopped short of a formal concession, came shortly after the GSA, the US government agency responsible for unlocking transition funds, formally notified the president-elect his team would be given access to federal resources.
