Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, at the weekend suspended the Chief Medical Director(CMD) of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Dr Ahmed Attah from office with immediate effect.
The suspension was hinged on his failure to comply with the Single Treasury Single Account(TSA) being operated by the state government.
The CMD was directed to handover following series of allegations levelled against him through a petition by some staff of the hospital.
According to reports, the CMD’s claim was that the inability of the specialist hospital to operate a TSA was as a result of the need to constantly pay doctors the hospital employed recently from the hospital’s coffers.
He added that the hospital is operating a drug revolving scheme, noting that it would be difficult to sustain the scheme if the money is being paid into the state government’s account, before seeking approval and withdrawal when the hospital run out of stock.
Attah further said the hospital buy its own diesel, and other items considered very important in its daily operation, which made it difficult for the hospital to operate a TSA account.
