Newspeakonline reported earlier in the day that two children aged 16 and three, were found dead in their room in Ibadan in mysterious circumstances.
It has emerged that the deceased, Amarachi Ukoha,16, and Munachi Madagu, 3, may have died of starvation. They were found dead in an eight-room bungalow in Agbowo area of Ibadan on Wednesday.
Amarachi was living with her elder sister, Chinonye, who is married to Kunle Ayoola. She had Munachi during her first marriage.
How the kids died was revealed when Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Muhammed Katsina, led a team of policemen to the house on Thursday. Ayoola, who accommodated the deceased, said they starved to death because he could not provide enough food and medical treatment for the family.
Twenty-year-old Ayoola, makes a living by gathering rusted iron from dust bins and dump sites and selling them at Ogunpa Market in Ibadan. But he explained that the income was not enough to feed his family.
After condoling with the family, the CP donated a brand new motorcycle and food stuffs including two bags of rice, half bag of beans, loaves of bread and palm oil. He said the motorcycle should help Ayoola earn a living.
The CP also offered free treatment to all members of the family at the Police hospital located in the State Headquarters of the command, Eleyele, Ibadan.
Ayoola, who could not thank the CP enough, promised to put the motorcycle to good use.
