The personnel of Amotekun Corps in Oyo State, on Friday, foiled an attempt by suspected kidnappers in Iwere-Ile community, Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, to abduct some residents of the area.
The kidnappers, who were suspected to be herdsmen, stormed the community in the afternoon, prompting the residents to send distress calls to Amotekun operatives in the area, Saturday Tribune reports.
According to the medium, immediately the Amotekun operatives got to the scene at about 3:30pm, they engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle, killing two, while the remaining three members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds.
It was further gathered that men of the Nigeria Police Force later stormed the scene and took the corpses away.
Efforts to get an official reaction from the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson over the incident proved abortive as of the time of filing this report.
