Two Nigerians, Prince Ekene, a 29 year-old computer engineer and Jerry Elijah, 38, a mechanic have been arrested by the Ghana Police for alleged armed robbery.
It was gathered that the suspects allegedly robbed a couple in their residence at Fise, an Accra suburb at about 1.00am on June 14, 2015.
Two Ghanaians, Basiru Zukar and Adjei Appiah are also being detained by the police for purportedly receiving the stolen goods.
The police said, six robbers, including the two Nigerian suspects, had gained access into their victims’ home by scaling the fence and then forcefully opening the main door to the apartment with cement blocks.
Police said that after the forced entry, the robbers tied up their victims and disposses them of their money. Other items reportedly stolen by the suspects include: a flat screen television, three mobile phones, one standing air- conditioner and three laptops.
The deputy Accra regional police commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Timothy Bonga Yoosa, who briefed the press on the arrest added that the suspects escaped with their victims’ Toyota Tundra pick-up, which they later abandoned at Amasaman, another Accra suburb at about 8.00am same day.
“The car was later returned to the couple, while through diligence, the police succeeded in unmasking the culprits, Yoosa said.
