Update on Diagnosed Cases of COVID-19 in the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
The University College Hospital(UCH) is broadening it’s readiness for the fight against COVID-19 as it has converted part of the East 2 ward to take care of suspected cases of the virus.
A statement on Sunday by the hospital’s COVID-19 media team quoted the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, as saying the step became necessary in order to be able to cope with possible increase in cases of the dreaded virus.
The CMD disclosed that the former MDR building (Damien Foundation) is being renovated and re-equipped as isolation centre. The renovation is being undertaken by the UCH Health Foundation
” In the meantime, the hospital has not recorded any new case of COVID 19 in almost 24 hours. The new case mentioned earlier is asymptomatic and is on self quarantine. On a positive note, a member of staff previously being managed at home has returned two negative tests hence discharged from follow-up.
The University College Hospital will continue to render excellent care and services to all our patients,” the statement said.
The hospital equally enjoins everyone to abide by the required infection prevention and control measures such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers & face masks, adding that it will continue to update the public accordingly.
