A Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry at the University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Opeyemi Ajewole has been killed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Ajewole was killed on his way home on Monday night.
A colleague of the deceased who confirmed the incident said Ajewole was killed while returning to his residence at Moniya.
“It is true. He was killed last night while returning home. They shot him and took his car. He was my friend. I just confirmed from a member of his Faculty now,” the lecturer said.
Also, the Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Communications of at the university, Mrs Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the incident to newspeakonline.
“Yes, it is true. He was killed yesterday,” she said.
