Authorities have confirmed one person dead while five others were injured in the building collapse involving one of the plazas being built at Itoku Market, Abeokuta by the Ogun State Government.
The four-storey building collapsed early this morning.
The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Adedayo Adeneye, said 16 construction workers were at the site.

He said:
“At the moment, records from the site engineers indicate that there were 16 workers on site at the time of the unfortunate incident and they have all been accounted for.
“Eight of them were rescued unhurt, five who sustained different degrees of injuries are presently receiving treatment at the State hospital Ijaiye, Abeokuta, one is critically injured, while two have been discharged.”
It was gathered that the deceased, Noimat Sikiru, died on the way to hospital.
