Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has won the presidential primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the elective National Convention held in Port Harcourt on Saturday into Sunday.
He polled a total of 1,585 votes to beat 11 other aspirants. Aminu Tambuwal came second with 693 votes while Senate President Bukola Saraki polled 317 votes to come third.
He will now fly the party’s flag in the 2019 presidential election in which President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be seeking re-election. Buhari was affirmed as the APC candidate in a national convention held on Saturday.
