The United States Government on Tuesday handed over 200 ventilators to the Nigerian Government.
The medical equipment were handed over to the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, by the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Leonard, at the Abuja Premier Medical Warehouse.
This is coming four months after President Donald Trump promised to support Nigeria with ventilators to assist the Federal Government in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trump promised to send the ventilators in a telephone conversation he had with Buhari on April 28.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who disclosed this at the time, said the call which was at the request of the American President centred on Nigeria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mohammed revealed that the conversation of both leaders centred on the efforts of the Nigerian government to tackle coronavirus.
