A Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN), Chief Niyi Akintola, has called on indigenes and residents of Oyo state, to ensure that the “new Oyo State vision” being midwifed by the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, is maintained and built upon.
He made the call in his Eid-el-Fitr message to Muslims in the state. He urged Muslims, and the people of the state to use “the determination and sense of duty that inspired our sacrifice in the last 30 days” to rededicate themselves to holiness and the task of developing the state.
His words: “I also want to use the opportunity of this celebration to remind us that there is a new Oyo State vision, instituted by our visionary Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, which we must strive not only to maintain but to build on. The vision is about creating a society where peace reigns; where there is stability and; where there is infrastructural development in every town and every local government in The state. It is a vision of a society where everyone has an equal and unfettered opportunity to attain his greatest potentials; where there is prosperity.
“As a people with chequered history and impressive heritage whose ancestors had a great vision, we owe it a duty to ensure that we translate the dream of a new Oyo state into a successful reality so that others can continue to emulate us. A ji se bi Oyo laari.
“The task of developing a State is not one that can be completed in 4 or 8 years. It requires a continuity. A good example of a State that has benefited immensely from this principle is Lagos State. The continuity project is however not Governor Ajimobi’ s task alone, it is the project of all the people of our pace-setting state. I therefore implore all our people to please join hands with our path-finding Governor, Chief Abiola Ajimobi in ensuring the continued sustenance of his vision for Oyo State even beyond his tenure”
