The Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, has lent his voice to the ongoing graduation controversy involving Senator Dino Melaye.
Prof. Garba, who appeared before the Senate’s Ethics and Privileges Committee on Monday, said Melaye graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Geography in 2000.
The VC, according to a tweet by the Senate, said: “Yes. From records, Dino formerly known as Daniel Jonah Melaye graduated from Ahmadu Bello University. BA Geography”
He said the senator graduated with a Third Class degree from the institution.
Senator Melaye who also appeared before the committee, tendered his letter of admission to the institution, his final year results statement and a copy of his final year project.
He explained to the committee that he officially changed his name from Daniel Melaye to Dino Melaye and is ready to tender the affidavit.
Asked where his original certificate is, Melaye said he was yet to collect it from the institution, adding that he would now do it forthwith.
