Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has encouraged the EndSARS protesters in the state to continue with their peaceful protest, urging police to stay away from the protest.
He said this in a state-wide broadcast on Monday.
The governor said he had asked the police in the state to take a back seat and that members of the Operation Burst should maintain order while the protests last.
“As I stated clearly in my earlier statement, peaceful protests are a legitimate way for citizens to make their grievances known to the government, and it is totally unacceptable for anyone to be hurt during such protests,” he said.
He disclosed that he has met with the heads of the major security agencies in the state and agreement was reached for them to give way for Operation Burst, especially in Ogbomoso where protesters were shot dead over the weekend.
