A former Special Agent with the United States intelligence and security service agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Mr Akib Abiola, has debunked the news making the rounds that the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was convicted of drug related offences and money laundering in the United States.
Abiola, in a video that surfaced online on Friday, said he was a Special Agent for the FBI in 1994 and assisted the agency in setting up its offices in Nigeria.
The former FBI Special Agent, said he is a close associate of Chief MKO Abiola and he was the one who facilitated the asylum for Tinubu in the US with the State Department in 1994 during NADECO struggles.
Abiola further stated that every information he gave in the video can be verified with the US State Department and US Embassy in the United Kingdom, adding that he is willing to make the statement under oath.
