The Mogajis in Ibadanland, otherwise known as authentic Mogajis, on Friday denied the news being circulated on social media that the group had endorsed the appointment of a former factional chairman of National Union of Riad Transport Workers(NURTW), Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called Auxiliary as chairman of Motor Park Managers in Oyo state.
In a statement signed by the coordinator of the group, Mogaji Abdlejlili Adanla; chairman, Mogaji Moshood Akere; vice chairman, Mogaji Abass Oloko and secretary, Mogaji Akeem Badmus, the authentic Mogajis described the story as false information emanating from some people who are desperate to discredit the good name of the family heads in Ibadan land, rather than protecting the lofty position of Mogajis.
According to the statement, “the Mogajis in Ibadan land are not in partisan politics and would never venture into the affairs of the NURTW in the state, but will continue to advocate for betterment of Ibadan land, Olubadan stool and Oyo state as a whole.”
The statement further urged the people of Ibadanland to disregard the story, just as it says the picture used along with the story was old pictures of Mogajis after their meeting three years ago.
“We never had a meeting where we endorsed anybody as the motor park manager. We Mogajis are more than 300 in Ibadanland with Mogaji Abdlejlili Adanla as coordinator. How could the group endorsed someone without the consent of the coordinator, the chairman, vice chairman, secretary and even members are not aware.
“We urged the people behind the purported fake news to be mindful of their family name and the interest of Ibadanland should be prioritised. We are not going to drag our family name into politics and we are not going to involve our names in the issue of NURTW in the state,” the statement said.
