The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr Sola Akande, has disclosed that the agency has an insurance scheme for students.
According to Akande, the plan covers all the tertiary institutions in Oyo State, adding that students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, and Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, are already registering for the insurance scheme.
He, however,noted that the state government is not forcing the insurance scheme on students, but making them to see the need for it.
The Executive Secretary also explained that the agency is trying to get the best facilities across the state where enrollees will have access to good healthcare.
He added that there is a department in the agency that do underground check on service providers to ensure that enrollees are treated right.
“We have a department called Monitoring and Evaluation, they inform the hospitals that they are coming, and with that we are able to know what is going on in various clinics and primary health care centres.
“OYSHIA also have a department called quality assurance department that do unannounced assessment of how our enrollees are being attended to in all the hospitals we work with. The department will go to the hospital impromptu and observed before making their presence known.
“When we are working with thes hospital, we know and we are sure of the services you will get at that centre,” Akande said.
He also encouraged enrollees to cooperate with clinical requests, especially where measures are being put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.
