The Excutive Secretary of Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr. Sola Akande, has disclosed that enrollment into the basic healthcare provision programme has commenced.
The basic healthcare provision programme will provide free healthcare services for the vulnerable in the society.
According to the OYSHIA boss, the agency has been able to access fund from both the federal and state governments for the programme.
“We are enrolling the poor into basic healthcare provision programme and it is at the grassroots level. We are enrolling 37,500 persons in Oyo State and we are being technical about it.
“We want the scheme to answer to some challenges of our indexes in Oyo State like maternal and child care. We are massively enrolling pregnant women and children into the scheme so that our narration around women that go for antenatal will change. We believed that this particular intervention will help improve on the figures of Oyo State around maternal and child care,” he said.
Akande further explained that there is no political interference, adding that the enrollment is devoid of party affiliation, which he said has helped the scheme to achieve a lot of things.
He added that the agency is enjoying massive support from the Oyo State Government.
