The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr. Sola Akande has revealed that the agency has started enrolling students and staff of the tertiary institutions in the state into the scheme.
Akande said the agency took the decision to enroll students and staff of tertiary institutions in the state in order to make affordable healthcare availble to them.
He said: “We have started enrolling students and staff of Ladoke Akintola University, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, College of Agricultural Technology, Igboora, and we pray to finish the enrollment before the end of the year, so that all the students and staff of these institutions will be on health insurance scheme.”
The Executive Secretary explained that there are two types health coverage, noting that individual scheme goes for N8000, while the family scheme-consisting of father, mother and two children-is N28,000.
Akande added that the insurance covers consultation, drugs, eye care, dental care, specialist consultation, examination, surgery.
Meanwhile, Akande has revealed that those enrolled in the insurance scheme for free will start accessing healthcare in the first week of April.
“Primary health care centers have been inspected to make sure that everything is in good condition towards the take off of those that are enrolled in the health insurance . Drugs will also be made available before April 1, so that all beneficiaries will enjoy the scheme from inception,” he said.
