The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  in Oyo State in the 2019 election, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has said he is certain that the opposition party will win the 2023 governorship poll in the state.

Addressing newsmen on the occasion of his 50th birthday in Ibadan on Thursday, Adelabu said with the decisions reached at the recent reconciliation meetings, peace has returned  to the APC, adding  that the collapse of the coalition that brought  Governor Seyi Makinde into office is also a pointer that the party is on course to take over the state in 2023.

He said: “There is no longer crisis in APC. I can tell you unequivocally that  peace has returned to the party. Let me add that there is no single leader in Oyo APC, what we have is collegiate of leaders and former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala is the leader of the collegiate of leaders.”

The former Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) deputy governor, who said the administration of Governor Makinde has failed woefully in the last one and a half year, said he feels more  wiser now and would make a better governor in 2023 than if he was elected in 2019.

He said with the return of the aggrieved leaders of the party, such as Senator Olufemi Lanlehin and Mr Adebayo Shittu among others into the progressives fold, APC will dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party in the state in 2023.

“I am excited with the reconciliation in our party. With the collapse of the coalition that brought PDP into office, they will lose votes.

“The governor has not impressed his immediate constituency and this government has not done anything significant in the last one and a half year. Can you compare this government with Ajimobi’s government  on infrastructure? With the poor performance of this government, they would be sent packing in 2023,” Adelabu added.
