The Adagba of Iyanfoworogi, Oba Adetayo Oladele, has stated that he organised a medical mission for his subjects in order for them to enjoy the best medical care.
Oba Oladele, who spoke in Iyanfoworogi during one of the missions organised recently, said the programme which started five years ago always held at the Ooni’s palace in Ile Ife until they decided to start another one in Iyanfoworogi two years ago.
He said: “I am not the organiser, I am just part of the organisation that is organising it. It is IONA (Ife Ooye North America and Canada). All the sons and daughters of Ife that lives in America and Canada are the organisers. Fortunately, I am the national financial secretary of IONA, so that may be the reason why they considered Iyanfoworigi as one of the places to bring the medical mission”
According to the monarch, the best one can do is to give back to the community which is why the medical mission was organised for the community.
“We all know that it is always good to give than to receive. I want to tell everybody that there is nothing too big or small to give to the community,” Obama Oladele said. Speaking, the Baale of Iyanfoworogi, Chief Taiwo Adedinu expressed joy at the programme which was the second edition in the community.
He said: “This is the second time it will happen. It is not only in this village but also in the neighbouring villages and also at the palace of Ooni of Ife. This grace is for everybody in Ile Ife.”
One of the beneficiaries, who identified himself as Tunde Olatunji, said: “It first happened in 2019 but I was not around. But I am happy I am around for this one and with this medical mission, I am assured that this village would be developed.”
During the medical mission, there were free consultation and distribution of prescribed drugs and eye glasses. The people also got appointments for free eye surgeries; free treatment for malaria, typhoid, hypertension and diabetics.
