The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr. Sola Akande, has revealed why it is so easy to join the insurance scheme.
Akande said multiple OYSHIA offices in local governments across the state make access easy for intending enrollees, adding that they can also enroll online or through the OPay app without leaving their homes.
Emphasizing that the agency was working harder everyday to make the scheme more effective, Akande said anybody that is interested in the insurance scheme can walk up to any general or state hospital in the state, stressing that there is always an official of OYSHIA on ground to register and avail them the information needed.
He added that registration can also be done online by loging on to www.oyshia.oy.gov.ng
The standard price for an individual is N8,000 per annum while the premium price is N28, 000 which is for father, mother and two children, per annum, he explained.
He said that the agency is also working with the primary healthcare centres because it believes that “if we get it right at that level, the pressure on the state and general hospitals will reduce.”
Akande said that the agency was also planning to formally commission its office in Ogbomoso to make registration easy and make people around the axis understand the benefits of taking up health insurance.
He emphasized that the ongoing doctors strike did not affect the scheme’s enrollees because mechanism has been put in place not to deny enrollees access to good medical services.
