The wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, on Sunday explained her long stay outside the country.
Mrs Buhari cleared the air in an interview with newsmen shortly after she arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
There had been all kinds of speculations round the First Lady’s absence with many suggesting that her critical views about happenings around her husband had made the Villa uncomfortable for her. She had been away from several functions where she was expected to be in company of her husband or preside as the president’s wife.
But upon her return, she explained that her absence was on health grounds.
Her words: “I have taken my holiday for this year and it happened that after the holiday, I needed to attend to my health before going to Saudi.
“When I went to Saudi, based on doctor’s instruction, I went back to the UK.
“I am well now but still, I need more rest.”
She thanked Nigerians for what she described as “their contant prayers” for her and President Muhammadu Buhari.
