After losing at the Oyo governorship election petition’s tribunal last Tuesday, Accord Party candidate in the last election, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja is yet to decide whether or not to head to the Court of Appeal.
The tribunal had on Tuesday upheld the victory of APC candidate, Governor Abiola Ajimobi on the grounds that Ladoja’s petition lacked merit.
Supporters of the Accord Party had expressed dissatisfaction at the verdict and appealing it seemed like the next line of action.
But in a telephone chat with Newspeakonline on Thursday, an Accord party chieftain, Hon. Samuel Adejumobi a.k.a ‘Agbara po’ disclosed that the party was still deliberating on the appropriate decision to take on the judgment.
He said the party would take a decision before the week ends.
However, Governor Ajimobi had advised Ladoja not to attempt an appeal saying, “When I heard that my egbon, Ladoja, said that he was not satisfied with the tribunal judgment and that he vowed to head for the Court of Appeal, I said he (Ladoja) should go to wherever he wants to go.
“But I want to assure you all and the good people of Oyo State that thousands of Accord Party and its candidate, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, cannot unseat me. This mandate is of God and popularly given to me by the good people of this state.
Immediate past chairman of Ido local government, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela has also laughed off Ladoja’s appeal threat.
Speaking to Journalists on Thursday, the professor of Geophysics said Ladoja had no strong case but was only creating distractions for Ajimobi.
He called on Ladoja and other opponents of the governor at the polls to join hands with the governor in moving the state forward.
