Against expectations, the Federal Government did not file extradition charges against Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho in the ongoing court hearing in the Republic of Benin.
Newspeakonline reliably gathered that the Nigerian Federal Government only requested the government of Benin Republic to detain him pending the time a criminal case will be instituted against him in Nigeria. The criminal case, it was gathered, will include charges of gun running and violent disruption of public peace for which the Nigerian government would request its Benin Republic counterpart to hand over Igboho to face.
His wife, Mrs Ropo Adeyemo, has regained freedom. Her seized passport has been released to enable her return to Germany. It is not clear if she will stay back in Benin Republic to monitor the ongoing case to the end.
