An unidentified woman was on Wednesday burnt to death along with three vehicles and three buildings in a tanker fire accident in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Reports said the tank, filled with 33,000 litres of diesel detached from the vehicle while ascending a hill, and rolled over a Nissan Almera car which was coming behind it and caught fire.
The woman was in the car. It was gathered that the fire’s intensity made it difficult for sympathisers and bystanders to help her.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am at Eleyele area of the city.
The rescue team involving policemen, men from Department of State Security Services (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and men from the State fire brigade service tried effortlessly to identify the woman or any other thing that could reveal her identity.
The driver of the truck who was said to be a very young man and the motor boy fled the scene for fear of being lynched by angry sympathisers.
Before fire fighters arrived the scene, three buildings including a church, Save and Serve Ministries were affected.
Also, a Mazda car marked Lagos LSR 208 EJ which was parked in the compound of a former commissioner affected by the fire was also burnt.
