The Yoruba Leadership and Peace Initiative (TYLPI) has announced plans to hold a national seminar on the restructuring of the Nigerian federation with a view to providing more clarity on the need to reorganize the Nigerian polity.
The group said it was of the view that restructuring was an important step towards ensuring enduring peace, progress, unity and cohesion in the country.
TYLPI’s Director of Publicity and Media Affairs, Mr. Tunde Ipinmisho, who made this known in a statement, said the seminar will hold at the University of Ibadan Conference Centre on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 10:00 am.
The seminar, with the theme ‘Strategies and Tactics for the Actualization of a Restructured Nigerian Federation’, will be presided over by the Chairman of the Afenifere Group, Pa Ayo Adebanjo.
Speakers expected at the event include Dr GG Darah, a professor of Oral Literature, Folklore and Cultural Sciences, Delta State University, Abraka; Dr Usman Bugaje, a former member of the House of Representatives and the founding Secretary-General of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), one of the political parties that merged to form the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as Alhaji Adegbenga Kaka, one time deputy governor of Ogun State and a former Senator representing Ogun East senatorial district.
Other speakers are Ms Yemi Adamolekun, the Executive Director of Enough is Enough, a group promoting a culture of good governance and public accountability in Nigeria through active citizenship and Mr. Alistair Soyode, the founder of Ben Television, London and former Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Europe.

TYLPI said it was hosting the seminar as a public service, to clear any fog on the concept of restructuring and to enlighten Nigerians on its inevitability, if Nigeria is to attain its nationhood goals.
