The Central Council of Ibadan Indigines (CCII), Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), Mogajis and Baales in Ibadan land have commended stakeholders for ensuring that peace reign in the ancient city, especially during the elevation of High Chiefs to Obas, as well as during the events leading to the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, as the Olubadan of Ibadan land.
A statement jointly signed by the CCII President-General, Barr. Niyi Ajewole; President, Association of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori; and ICPI Coordinator, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, described the recent developement in Ibadan traditional institution, especially the decision of former Otun Olubadan, Sen Rashidi Ladoja, to accept and wear beaded crown, as a triumph for peace and tradition of Ibadan land.
The statement listed the stakeholders as Asiwaju of Ibadan land, Chief Bode Amao; Prelate Sunday Ola Makinde, Chief Bayo Oyero, Aare of Ibadan land, Chief Makanjuola Akinola; Jagun Olubadan, Chief Dotun Sanusi; Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji Yekini Abass and all past CCII Presidents-General.
It listed others are all Royal Majesties, Traditional Chiefs, Mogajis, Royal Highnesses, Baales, all Ibadan elders, prominent Ibadan sons and daughters among others.
They hailed the sense of maturity and understanding showed by the stakeholders, especially during the crisis, and also commended the stakeholders in Ibadan traditional institution for their role in ensuring a smooth transition.
“The Olubadan throne, one of the most revered in Yoruba land, has been a symbol of unity and stability in Ibadan land. The peaceful succession is a testament to the enduring legacy of the throne,” it said.
The statement further praised the stakeholders for their maturity and sense of responsibility, noting that they put their personal interests aside to work towards a common goal.
“The stakeholders played a crucial role in mediating and resolving potential disputes. Their wisdom and leadership helped to avert any crisis,” it added.
They commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his support and respect for traditional institution, saying his administration’s stance helped in promoting peace and stability.
