Reports have it that the much awaited Local government primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State scheduled for Monday February 19, have been suspended indefinitely.
Director of Media and Strategy of the APC, Dr Abdulazeez Olatunde, speaking to Isaac Brown on Crossfire, a political current affairs programme on Fresh FM, said the postponement came as a result of an advice by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) the forthcoming local government elections.
He said OYSIEC advised the party to put the primaries on hold because the commission was yet to finish with the delineation of the newly created LCDAs in the state.
The elections have been fixed for May 12, 2018
Olatunde denied that the postponement was as a result of internal crisis within the party.
Recall that protests by a faction within the party broke out last week over allegations that the leadership of the party was planning to impose candidates.
