Experts in digital transformation have provided trending strategies in using Artificial Intelligence and other tools to provide digital solutions.
They provided the ideas at an international al conference held at the American University of Technology (ATECH) Ibadan, the Oyo State capital at the weekend.
The two-day conference held at the global campus located at Oladosu Oladipo Close, Bodija Ibadan is another edition of the Edge Global Conference designed to raise the consciousness of the people to emerging digital technologies and its relevant to human activities and National development.
Participants including students, academics, ICT experts and others were drawn from different part of Africa.
The Director of Programmes, American University of Technology, Dr David
Akanbi while speaking with journalists on the program said: “We want to educate people on how to leverage power of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, machine learning algorithm and the goal is to help people move from current level they are to a place of importance in their career and we want to give them hands-on tools on the subject matter on how they can leverage it either as individuals or corporate organizations on how they can leverage the power of AI on their businesses.
“We also want to find a way of contributing to the society. We don’t want to be part of the people complaining about things are not working, we want to find a way to see how we can make things happen. There is no perfect situation. We only have people that care about the country that wish to impact and this is how we can give back and help people and see how we can contribute to whatever the government is doing and their aspirations.”
Akanbi, a Professor of Practice in Washington DC, added:
“You can’t embrace what you don’t know because if I come to advertise product to you and you don’t know about it you will be skeptical about it. That is why the level of embrace depends on the level of awareness. So a lot of people don’t know that is why they are not embracing; and that is why our duty is to make them know and see the advantages and disadvantages and at the same time, I have this notion that whatever comes with technology you need to have the awareness like how to use it. Today, Artificial Intelligence is very important in today’s world and governs our lives. For example, if you apply for a loan in a bank, the responses are AI generated.”
In his keynote address, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, Fatai Buhari, called for digital transformation in the Nigerian aviation industry.
Buhari, representing Oyo North Senatorial District, highlighted the urgency of adopting AI and other cutting-edge technologies to revolutionize the industry’s operations.
He emphasised that the aviation industry was at a crucial moment where AI and digital technologies could offer solutions to the challenges that hinder its full potential.
The Acting Registrar of the ATECH, Olubukola Adio, said the university was one of the open universities that would be licensed by the Federal Government to offer 100 per cent tech-driven programs.
The institution has fully equipped facilities with state-of-the-art equipment with
