A former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, is dead.
Ogbulafor, 73, died in Canada on Thursday after an undisclosed illness.
Goddy Uwazurike, lawyer and close associate of the deceased, said Ogbulafor would be buried in 2023.
“Chief Vincent Ogbulafor KSM died in the early hours of Thursday, in Canada at 73. The Royal Family of Ogbulafor will announce a date for the burial ceremonies, which will most likely take place next year.
“He was the head of the family. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord. Let perpetual light shine on him,” Uwazurike said.
Ogbulafor was born on May 24, 1949, in Olokoro, Umuahia south Local Government Area of Abia State.
He was also a former national secretary of the PDP.
Ogbulafor resigned as PDP chairman after he was accused of financial recklessness while serving as a minister.
He was reputed to have boasted that the PDP would rule for 40 years, a wish truncated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning the 2015 presidential election.
Ogbulafor was succeeded as the PDP national chairman by former governor of Enugu State, Okwesilieze Nwodo.
