A socio-political group, The Premier Patriots, has debunked claims that Jagun Olubadan and Chairman of Ilaji Hotel and Sport Resort, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, is a religious bigot.
The group was responding to an alleged article, titled: ‘Unmasking Deception: When did Pastor Dotun Sanusi become a Muslim?’ attributed to Tijjaaniyyah Grassroot Mobilisation and Initiative of Nigeria (TIGMEIN).
A statement by the coordinator of the group, Asiwaju Nurudeen Akinade, urged TIGMEIN to leave religious sentiments aside and face what the organisation is meant for.
It warned those behind the article to desist, saying religious sentiment is not what tOyo State and Nigeria need at this moment.
Akinade dared the writer of the article to quote or cite any instance where Sanusi disclosed that he has become a Muslim because he wants to be governor of Oyo State.
“Dotun Sanusi was born a Muslim and his name is Jubril, his father, a 93-year-old man is an Alhaji.
“Almost all his siblings are Muslims,
Dotun Sanusi has Muslims and Christians in his family.
“He built both Mosque and Church; he has sent many Muslims and Christians on holy pilgrimages to Mecca and Jerusalem respectively. He is not a religious bigot, he is friendly with both Muslim, Christian and Traditional Worshipers.
“He is a philanthropist and a business man, who is one of the major employer of labour in Oyo State today.
“Next gubernatorial election is still far away, nobody should be engaging in any serious politicking. The incumbent has not even celebrated his first anniversary. We are in the process of governance, politicians should kindly tarry on politicking for now.
“Jubril Dotun Sanusi mobilised for Christians, Muslims, and Traditional Worshipers during the last electoral campaign that produced President Bola Tinubu.
“Ask from Chief Imam of Ibadan and Grand Imam of Oyo State, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State as well as the Araba Awo of Ibadan land. They are in the best position to tell the kind of person Jubril Dotun Sanusi is.
“We need good governance not religious bigotry and unnecessary politicking,” the statement added.
